ELEMENTS OF NATURAL AND BUILT ENVIRONMENTS

Elements of Natural and Built Environments (ENBE) is an introduction to the natural and built environments and establishing a relationship between both environments. ENBE teaches students to improve their observational skills, data compilation, report preparation and presentation skills. Site visits are a necessary portion of this module which allows students to experience the natural and built environments first hand.

Ms Delliya leads the module along with Mr Paul and Ms Iffa. This module features one very unique tutorial method called pin up tutorials where we pin up our group projects during tutorials to allow lecturers and other classmates to view our work. We were encouraged to learn from examples online, as well as from our classmates as they may include interesting features which we had missed in our own work.

This video highlights our experiences in the module, from the first to the final project.

The module is separated into two main sections. The first half of the module focuses on the natural environment, where we went to Taman Negara for a site visit and compiled a scrapbook as well as an infographic poster explaining a given topic. For the second part of the module, we focused on the built environment. We went on a site visit to Kuala Lumpur, focusing in a given area. We were then tasked with creating a site analysis booklet of our area, as well as a design proposal about improving connectivity in our area. We also made 2 mini journals where we had to answer questions given to us in visual note taking form.
