FINAL PROJECT - Landscape Proposal for Park Visitor Centre

This final project is for both the Constructed Landscape and Introduction to Drawing modules. We were tasked with designing a visitor centre for our park, the Perdana Botanical Gardens. This was my favourite project of this semester, and the one I was most excited about the moment i saw the senior's work.

For the CL part, we had to start with a concept and create bubble and conceptual diagrams as a group. We chose the location as a group, and also discussed the spaces that we would like to include in our visitor centre. We decided on the concept of an English Landscape Garden.

After the interim submissions we had to choose a concept for our landscape. I chose the radial approach for my landscape. After sketching a few ideas, I finally managed to come up with a concept which I feel good about and started sketching it on an A2 paper at a scale of 1:50. At the same time I improved my floor plan for my building based on my teacher's comments and also drew the elevation and sectional elevation views.

For drawing we had to come up with the layout and furniture checklist for the visitor centre building all of our furnitures are from Ikea so I went to Ikea to choose my furniture from their large catalogue of selections.

After finalizing all of my diagrams and scanning them, I arranged them onto 2 A1 papers. I decided to use copic markers to colour my work, which was risky because i had not actually use much of copics before. Luckily i prepared an extra copy to test the colours I want to use. I coloured my work with short, dotted strokes to give more texture to my work. While copic was relatively new to me, I was used to painting in layers, so the concept of colours was not too difficult to learn.

For the final product, my work consists of a schematic plan, master plan, hardscape and softscape palette, 2 sectional elevations, 1 elevation, a perspective drawing as well as a detail drawing

While it took a long time with lots of sleepless nights and hand cramps, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this project and it was very fulfilling to be able to complete this project and I was satisfied with my work.

In this project I applied the things that I learned throughout the semester, such as the the orthographic drawings, as well as the landscape representations of softscape. The most important thing is to manage my time properly to be able to complete it in time. I hope I get the opportunity to do a similar project again in the future.
